Initiatives for CSR

1. Social and Regional Contribution

As a good corporate citizen, we are engaging in social contribution activities to realize an affluent society

Participation in the regional contribution activity,

"Chuo Dori," with its main spot at the famed bridge "Nihonbashi", which is embedded with the "road origin marker" as the starting point of all Japan's roads, is metropolitan Tokyo's main avenue and has been continuously imparting new information and culture since the beginning of the Edo Shogunate. In collaboration with the government administration, many citizens participate in volunteer activities to decorate Chuo Dori with seasonal flowers, by planting and watering flowers and cleaning up the area of "Hana Kaido" or "Flower Avenue" (the 2-kilometer section of Chuo Dori between Kyobashi and Kanda). We make donations to plant seasonal flowers in beds, and actively participate in transplanting flowers as well as sidewalk cleaning activities (known as "Clean Walk").

Recycling of contact lens cases

We have participated in the Eye City Eco Project by Hoya Group since September 2017.
We collect empty cases of disposable contact lenses and recycle them at a recycling manufacturer. The proceeds are donated to the Japan Eye Bank Association.
This empty case is easy to recycle because it is made of only polypropylene both inside and outside of Japan.
We are contributing to the reduction of waste and CO2 emissions, effective use of resources, and society contribution through this project.

The total amount: 34.92kg (from August 2017 to October 2022)

Food drive activities using food and water stockpiled for disasters

To prepare for emergencies and disasters, we stockpile emergency food, water, and other supplies in our offices as disaster-preparedness reserves. Although the situation depends on the product and the timing of purchases, large amounts of stocks often reach their expiration date at the same time. Previously, stocks close to their expiration date have been distributed to employees. However, in light of the current situation whereby many people in Japan require food support, in 2023 we began donating these stocks to food banks, etc.

2. CSR Procurement Initiatives

In order to fulfill our social responsibilities, we respect human rights, comply with laws and social norms, and work together with our suppliers on responsible procurement with consideration for society and the environment.
